I’ve been wanting new speakers for my computer for a long time. The current set is an el-cheapo that I got with my original computer back in ~1997. I had been looking at the Logitech Z-5500, but at $240 for the best deal I could find it was hard to justify. So last Friday I ordered the Logitech Z-2300 from Amazon.com for $79.99 plus $25.50 shipping. They had it for $30 less than anyone else. The Z-2300 is a 2.1 speaker system that combines everything you need in a sound system: THX®-certified performance and quality, beautiful looks, and more than enough power to fill your room with great sound.
* THX® Certified
* 200 watts of RMS power (400 watts of peak power) deliver thunderous audio for music, movies, and games
* 8-inch long-throw subwoofer driver with flared bass port pounds out powerful, distortion-free bass
* Polished aluminum phase plug at the center of the driver outperforms conventional 2-way designs
* Included adapter lets you connect the speakers directly to your DVD player, CD player, or video game console
See here for more details on the system from Logitech. They are scheduled for delivery on September 1, and I can’t freakin wait. Check back for an update. I’ll let you know what I think of them.

Tomorrow!!!!!
This system fuckin’ rocks! With 200 watts RMS, 400 watts max, this thing will do more than vibrate your ass!
There have been some reviews that complained that the system lacked a good mid-range and thumped too hard in the lower range. There is a sub volume knob so you can adjust the bass. It is probably true that the system is lacking in the mids, but for the casual listener of music, games, and video, this system kicks ass!
Excuse me while I relax to some Pink Floyd The Division Bell, at 2/3 volume…
