There is a great article over at CNET News about a website from Florida State University that shows images of graphics that chip designers have put in unused areas on microchips. From the exhibit, it appears it has been a common practice at HP and several other tech companies for years. It shows everything from a Pepsi bottle to Where’s Waldo.

I could see how this could be entertaining from a designers perspective, but what about the legal ramifications from putting someone else’s trademark on millions of chips that you sold for money, even if the end user will never see it?

Abbie and her sunflowerAbbie’s sunflower is all grown up. She got the sunflower at a festival in McCall over the Independence Day weekend. It was about 3 inches tall when she got it. It only grew to about 4 ft tall because it was planted late in the growing season. Nights have started getting cold around Boise so the leaves are wilted.

The sunflower turned toward the head because of all the heat reflecting off the siding. It is in direct sunlight, but it turned toward the heat instead of the light. Click the picture to see the photo album.
